Retro SFX - 40 retro 8-bit sound effects x 3 variations (WAV + OGG, Godot 4.5+ addon)
40 original retro sound effects, each in 3 variations (about a semitone apart, so repeats don't machine-gun), plus a Godot addon that plays them in one line. Bleeps, coins, lasers and booms for your retro game in one drag.
Listen first: the free preview reel (MP3, all 40 sounds) is in the downloads below.
40 sounds

What you get
- 40 sounds x 3 variations = 120 WAV files: mono, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, sorted into category folders
- The same 120 as OGG Vorbis
- All melodies are original. Loudness matched within each category, peaks at most -1 dBFS, clean starts and ends (no clicks), no DC offset
- A Godot 4 addon: one AudioStreamRandomizer per sound (picks a variation each time, no immediate repeats) and a
RetroSfx.play(self, "coin")helper - A Godot demo project: press F5 for a button per sound (the addon folder carries its own copy of the WAVs, so it's self-contained)
sound_list.csv(every file, its length and a one-line description), README and license
Use it in 1 minute
- Godot 4.5+: copy
godot/addons/retro_sfx/into your project (so it sits atres://addons/retro_sfx/), then callRetroSfx.play(self, "coin")from any node, or putstreams/coin.treson any AudioStreamPlayer. Checked by headless import and load test in Godot 4.5. - Unity, GameMaker, anything else: drag the
wav/orogg/folder into your project. They are plain audio files.
Try it free in Godot: Retro SFX LITE (8 of these sounds, same addon) is free on the Godot Asset Store; this pack drops in over it.
License: use the sounds in any personal or commercial game or video, no credit needed. Don't resell or redistribute the sound files themselves. The GDScript helper is MIT.
How they're made (AI disclosure): made with AI assistance. The synthesiser code was written with AI help, and every sound is generated by that code from square, triangle, saw and sine oscillators and noise: no samples, no recordings, no AI audio model. The oscillators run at 16x the sample rate and are filtered down, so pitch sweeps stay clean instead of aliasing. Checked by machine (format, loudness, clicks, aliasing, Godot import).
Made by The_KnightShift. More retro: PSX Skyboxes (PS1-style dithered skies).
