Stylized Sky Skyboxes: 16 Day, Sunset, Night and Storm Skies
A downloadable asset pack
Sixteen painterly outdoor skies for 3D games, ready for Godot 4 and Unity.
Launch sale: 25% off until 7 October ($2.99), or all three skybox packs for $7.50 in the Discounted Skyboxes bundle. The free Skybox Sampler has two skies from each pack in the same formats.
From a clear noon and a golden hour to a thunderstorm, a moonlit night and an aurora over snow. Each sky is a full 360 degree environment with sun-lit clouds, horizon haze and a simple ground below the horizon, with no seams and no pinching at the poles.
The 16 skies
01 Clear Noon, 02 Golden Hour, 03 Orange Sunset, 04 Pink & Purple Dusk, 05 Blue Hour, 06 Dawn Mist, 07 Overcast Grey, 08 Thunderstorm, 09 Tropical Cumulus, 10 Desert Haze, 11 Winter Pale, 12 Moonlit Night, 13 Alien Twin Moons, 14 Fantasy Lavender, 15 Apocalyptic Red, 16 Aurora Snow Night.
What you get
- 16 panoramas at 2048 x 1024 (PNG) and 4096 x 2048 (JPG)
- 1024 x 1024 cubemap faces for every sky, named for both Godot (px, nx, py, ny, pz, nz) and Unity (Front, Back, Left, Right, Up, Down)
- A Godot 4 addon with a sky material and an Environment for each sky, plus a demo scene
- README, a Unity import guide and the license
A second download has the 16 panoramas as lossless 4096 x 2048 PNG. The free sampler has 3 skies (Golden Hour, Thunderstorm, Moonlit Night) at lower resolution, so you can test the import before buying.
Using it
- Godot 4: copy
godot/addons/stylized_skyboxesinto your project and assign anenvironments/<sky>.tresto a WorldEnvironment. Tested in Godot 4.5. - Unity: import the six PNGs from
cubemaps_unity/<sky>/into aSkybox/6 Sidedmaterial (Front, Back, Left, Right, Up, Down); UNITY.md has the steps. Checked in Unity 6000.0.84f1: the faces line up with no seams, horizon level, sky upright. Works in Built-in and URP. - Other engines: anything that takes equirectangular panoramas or six-face cubemaps (Unreal, Bevy, three.js, Blender).
Good to know
Images are 8-bit LDR sRGB, not HDR. These are stylized paintings, not simulations: the clouds have a flat painted look rather than volumetric depth, and the ground is a simple gradient meant to be covered by your own terrain. Seams were checked numerically and every sky was reviewed by eye.
License
Royalty-free for commercial and non-commercial games, apps and videos. No attribution required. You may modify the images for your own projects, but you may not resell or redistribute them as assets. Full text in LICENSE.txt.
AI disclosure
Made with AI assistance: the skies are painted by code that an AI wrote, then checked by eye and by numeric seam checks.
